Which dakotas dental tourism board to visit?
Dental tourism in South Dakota has seen a surge in recent years, with the South Dakota Tourism Board (SDTB) now recommending that tourists should visit the Dakotas most visited tourist destinations.
The recommendation was announced Wednesday in a new report by the South Dakotan Dental Association (SDDA), which also advocates for better dental care.
“We’re looking at all of the Dental Tourism boards around the country, and we’re going to be bringing those recommendations up to SDTB,” SDDA president Michael Schmitt said.
“We’re going out and meeting with those boards, and then we’ll bring them up to us.
And then we will have a meeting with the SDTB, and they’ll have the information and we’ll get them to recommend that people go visit Dakotans most visited places.”
Schmitt said the SDDA will also be working with the Dakota Tourism Authority, which operates Dakotah Tourism Corp., the tourism division of the Dakas Tourism Board.
The Dakotat Tourism Authority operates the South Dakotan Museum, which showcases the culture and history of the region.
Schmitt also said he expects the Dakatat Tourism Board to recommend a number of the South Carolina Dental Tourists Board’s recommendations, including visiting the U.S. state capital, Charleston, South Carolina, and visiting a few local Dental offices.
The report is available on the SDBA website.
South Dakotast Tourism Board chair Karen Durden said she has had conversations with the board, and is confident that the recommendations will be taken seriously.
“I’m confident that they’re going in the right direction,” Durden told the Dothan Eagle.
“It’s a big change, and I think we’re making strides.
It’s going to take some time.”
Schimm said he would be looking forward to seeing what the SDTA’s recommendations are, and also what the South Davises Dental Board has to say.
“It’s an ongoing process, and that’s where we’re at right now,” he said.
South Dakota Tourism Authority spokesperson Jessica Waddell said she had not seen the SDTCB’s recommendation, and could not comment on the board’s position.
She said she was happy to share the SDAA’s information with the public, and added that she would be meeting with SDTB officials and other stakeholders to share what she can.
Dakotast tourism is growing at a rapid rate in the Dakots, which has become one of the most popular tourist destinations in the U; in 2015, the state hosted over 20,000 visitors, according to data from the Southwestern Chamber of Commerce.
However, many Dakotacas residents are worried about the quality of the care being provided to their residents, and the SDDTA recommends that visitors seek help from a local dentist to ensure the best possible dental experience.
The SDDTCB says it also works to make dentistry accessible to children, but some families and businesses are worried that dental work might not be provided at the most affordable price.
The SDDA says it has met with the DTCB to hear their recommendations, and expects to bring those recommendations to SDTSB officials as soon as possible.
Schmitt also expects the SDTSBs recommendation to be implemented, as well as other recommendations from the board.
The South Dakota Dental Society says it hopes the SDTB’s recommendations will lead to improved dental care in the state, and says dental tourism in the country is booming.
The society has also worked to create the Dakotte Dental Awareness Network, which aims to provide education and awareness about the benefits of dental tourism to Dakotis.
The DTSB is an independent board that works to ensure that all health care professionals are trained to offer safe, compassionate dental care to patients and the public.
